    PROJECT MORE

Project MORE Volunteers needed to mentor elementary students:

Project MORE is a scientifically based volunteer  reading mentoring program that has been shown to significantly increase  the reading levels of students with disabilities on  both informal and  standardized reading assessments.  This is a structured 1:1 volunteer reading mentoring program that is Effective, Affordable, Replicable and Sustainable (EARS). The program follows the No Child Left Behind” high  expectation for all” standard.  Initially, Project MORE was designed to  raise the expectations and performance  for children with disabilities  in the area of reading, but has also proven  effective for students  at-risk for reading failure.

Students work with mentors four times a week in thirty minutes sessions.  This program provides intense reading help for students at their reading level.  The leveled lessons are prepared ahead of time and ready for the mentor and student each day.  In turn, students have shown significant improvement in their reading scores.

The success of this program is dependent upon volunteers.  The more volunteers we have the more children we can service!
